Crutch antenna

DXman, the owner of that antenna belongs to 51 in Dallas.(JUDGE ROY BEAN). It definitely works very well. He gets parts from me all the time and creates things of his own. He put together four crutches(without coils) and shut everything down in the 4 pill class last year at the big Dallas meet and was runner up with 13VA. Ronny was the only one to beat him. He plays with things like this all time. He has been testing antennas for me almost as long as I have been building them. Anything new that I come up with, I let him play with it to see if it is worth spending any time on. .....Kale

freecell, you need to look again. There is no multiple antennas here. ONLY multiple coils. All of the parts make up ONE antenna. This antenna isn't in the ARRL Handbook on antennas but doesn't mean it will not perform well. Judge knows the handbook from front to back.....Kale

DXman, the antenna isn't mine. The coils and top piece is the only parts from the 10K. Judge bought the crutch at a goodwill store cheaper than what a 102 would cost. I'll say again, the antenna performs very well. Kale

freecell, The crutch is two pieces bolted together making up ONE shaft. ONE shaft with two coils is NOT two antennas. Ive ran two antennas on a "V" mount on one shaft and one mount and one feed line. It is ONE antenna with two coils....Kale

freecell, what frequency and radio do you talk on? Do you talk on 11 meters all time? What got you into this hobby? What kind of antenna do ytou talk on if you talk on 11 meters? Kale

An Army of Me, he didn't use ANY of my psrts on the antennas that he used in the key downs. He did use the coils and top pieces from the 10K for the antenna on the car. He used the crutch because he could fine tune it easily by taking the bolts out and raising the coils up or down. He set a laddar way out in the parking lot with a field strength meeter on it and read it through a pair of binoculars.Kale
