1. Why is there a large blank gap on my chart from 220Mhz through 222MHz?

2. None of my radios are capable of transmitting CW but I was curious is it possible to use the DTMF as a key for CW? I was playing around earlier today on 144.0MHz and had one radio for receive and one transmitting CW using my DTMF keypad and tho it isn't practical I found it quiet readable...

Time to check authorized frequency allocations for that band.

I suppose if your mic was broken and there was an emergency you could use it but considering the fact the radio is still transmitting and receiving in FM mode and you are just sending a tone ( well two tones mixed together actually with DTMF) there is no advantage to it at all. It is not true CW mode.
