Nope the socket is larger than a 6 or 12aq5.Staybolt,
It should be a 6AQ5. Should take a 7 pin socket.

as the socket is bigger
OK. Let me clarify.
It SHOULD be a 6AQ5. It SHOULD take a 7 pin socket.
7 pin.
Bigger is a relative term. Does it have more than 7 pins? How many pins does it have?Does it have 5 pins like a 3-500Z with a large base socket-a 275 socket perhaps.
Can you provide a description of the tube socket? Maybe a picture?

I dont know how. They dont make this easy for someone to post pics.photos please
Well this uses a 9 pin keying tube. There were amplifiers back in the day that used a tube with a 9-pin base for keying the relay. Browning, Golden Falcon and very,very-early Varmints come to mind.
Most popular was 6BQ5.
Never have seen a D&A that used a 9-pin keying tube. And if it's old enough, it could have been built differently from what I'm used to.
