I guess how I look at this is what matters to the customer can be looked at in some simple way of - I want to talk to my friends.

So, I tune to what they want, and in many instances (nearly all), they are abandoning sensitivity for selectivity to obtain their neighbor they want to chat with. The noise is what it is to them, they just want their roundtable - for they are stuck in an environment that is so full of noise and chatter, they just want - what they want - and that is to talk.

Many of them "upgrade" later sometimes by radio - but mostly by antenna and station setup. Get more up there to get out there better so they can get the best performance for what they are dealing with around them.

To go out and buy a Stryker just because it's better, is relative. I can do things to a Cobra 19Plus to improve the rejection of a splatterbox from the Superb Owl :ROFLMAO: But I can't remove what that (gosh darn) station does to the frequency they are using because of the other stations emissions are on, and around the same frequency.

So they're in for a big disappointment - unless all they wanted was the fancy upgrade. Else, the radio they left behind is just as good, if not better than, the replacement they parted their cash for.

So if it makes the customer happy, HD and them are going to do their song and dance - so I think you're doing the right thing by trying to expose their work - just don't be suprized if they only swapped a few parts to make those claims.

(I did do a set of posts around the Asymmetrical Mods thread back at CB Tricks showing a bunch of mods others do that "brand" them and show their work. Nothing big but it is worth mentioning; that once their efforts are exposed others will try to copy it)

...so proceed at your own peril, for others that follow you may try to copy it and claim it for their own...

They could claim bias. RealPorkChop has made it clear he works on radios.
The only way this could be truly impartial is from someone that did not work on radios.

I mean no offence to anyone nor am I challenging anyone's honesty or honor.

I still think it would be miraculous to get one. I will even donate money for the purchase.

This is what I think of S-UNIT readings, it'seems all relative. Take a calibrated s-meter and hook it up to a beam antenna and the figure is just a reading that is not calibrated. Operating conditions will change your situation. The beam antenna has a gain above the standard dipole that is zero db gain.

I’d love to see that thread on CBT and the mods stuff you mentioned.

You’re right, to a degree whatever I uncover, they’ll claim I did this or that. I’ll know better but they’ll try to discredit me for their own good. I know that.

There’s probably a grand total of 5 Fine Tune radios in the United States. And that’s probably divided between those two, they share the 5th one for “buddychat” time.

Ok, that made me laugh. A lot.
I needed that on a Monday morning.

That’s all I been trying to do for 8 pages now, give somebody a laugh, glad you got one!

Thinking on this, it’s not going to improve my business by proving his “tunes” to be fake. I don’t sell online, I don’t really sell much in my shop, I do repairs and factory service manual alignments - like Mike. And I won’t really cut into his sales either, he has his followers and believers.

Speaking of which, he buys his subscribers and thumbs ups, views and so forth on YouTube. You can’t have 9k subscribers and only get a few replies on every video. Not with the number of views he gets. Not unless said viewers are laughing to hard to reply.

Dealing with customers can be difficult.
That goes for any business.
Precisely why it's a good idea to evaluate those potential customers before they became a customer to avoid problem customers that are going to cost you more money than you could potentially gain from the transaction and if you spot an issue send them down the road to another shop to avoid the headache. Lower IQ people or people who think they know something and are incapable of following instructions are not people that you want to deal with in this business. People trying to save a nickel who refuse to purchase an antenna analyzer are not someone you want to deal with in this business. Those are the same folks that blow things up and then blame the shop for their own mistake.

Then why don't you just come out and admit that some of these "Fine Tune" assertions are indeed a con game. Don't keep defending it if you don't feel they are worthy.
