Can anyone tell me what a nice Dentron Clipperton L converted solely for 10/11 meters is worth. It can dead key about 1400-1500 watts output. Thanks.

If he is "dead keying" it at that output, it will need new tubes, as well as the tank circuit rebuilt. Will no doubt need to the power supply board replaced to, as well. New tubes are 320.00, new power supply board 100.00, and who knows what he did to the tank circuit.

Thanks for the reply. Maybe I should have said that the 1400-1500 watts output is un-modulated. So I guess that would be the modulated peak power. That seems about right for 4 of those tubes in a single band amp. I don't think the PS or tank circuit should be a problem. It's got to be worth more than $250. Just the amp alone sells for $500 or more.
$400 maybe $500 tops. Since it's modded for only 10-11 meters. Limited on who will be interested in it.
Thanks, I assume that the market would be for 27 mhz users. That said, I would think a 1500 watt amp for 27mhz is worth more than $500.

It's worth about $450-550 with good tubes in it's original Amateur built condition...IMHO the way it is now...I would pay maybe $150 as a parts amp. You can buy SB-220 Heathkit's nowadays with good tubes and not butchered up at Hamfests for $500.
So I guess to some that Clipperton...it's worth more but nobody sane.

The Clipperton, SB-220, SB-200 are no damn good on 10 meters anyhow. None of them make good power and easy tune up on 10/11 meters. That's why a dedicated amp for this band is more desirable and hence should have an appeal in price over it's stock performance on 10/11 meters.

I had a friend about a year ago pick one up at a flea market for $150. He got lucky and worked as it should. Just needed new caps in power supply.
That's just it....it isn't a true 1500 watt amp. Those 572B's are getting beat to death making 12-1300 watts output on SSB . The limiting factor is not the tank circuit but the tubes. Running them in AM service is even harder on them than running SSB.
OK fine, so then what box should be considered if swinging up to 1500 or so should be considered? Thanks.
