I'm thinking of getting either a Cobra CA-61 or CA-72 and there is very limited info on the net about these in terms of actual videos or reviews period...... I'd like to hear back from some folks that have used these with positive and negative feedback so I'll be more in the know before I get any of these mics please !

I have all my several base stations wired for either 4pin or 5 pin Cobra/Galaxy wiring with a few exceptions that I use 5pin din cos that is what that have on them.

I read where the CA-72 has voice compression where as the CA-61 or CA-60 doesn't I reckon. I've got lots of vintage base stations I use and like good strong clear crisp modulation for the most part basically...

Just hoping for some real good feedback, Jim

The CA-61 was very close to the Realistic desk mic- wouldn't be surprised to find they were one and the same.

Which radio would you be using it with? Some of the older models had built-in compression and didn't work well at all with a mic that alsoty had compression. The Cobra 135 is an example of this. Didn't work worth a squat when I put a Super Sidekick on it.

FWIW I had a CA-61 many years ago- used it on a 138 XLR. Can't say anything bad about it but I don't recall it being a standout either.

Thanks Atlasta, yeah I am wondering a bit more on that CA-72 which has that voice compression apparently but I just won an auction for a NIght K Eagle mic too which I hear it has superb audio or outstanding even compared to the Silver Eagle... I'm just wanting a variety to which to switch off on with my radios from time to time and take advantage of their characteristics. I have many base vintage radios, ranging from a TRC-457, Stalker 20, Uniden Pro 810e, Cobra 2000gtl, President Washington,Robyn 520D, GE Superbase, SBE Land Command LCBS-8, Lafayette Telsat SSB140, Midland 78-999, SBE Console V, Royce 642 and a Cherokee CBS 1000......
So needless to say, I like variety and exploring different aspects of nice base stations.
Only that CA-72 is too pricey really on eBay set at 80 bucks but it may be worth it as it
has all stuff with it box, papers, looks new so I can't get any feedback so it's too risky...
