I would like to know how to get the bassy sound out of the Cobra 200GTL (2290's) version I have. It pissed me off. It sounds like a old cb or something. My superstar and other radios sound clear, the cobra 200 sounds muffled in comparison. I have all the updates that are published on the web. I hate this radio. Also, if anyone know how to make this things swing some bird watts, pm or email. It is a DUCK. It barely pushes a competetion 8 pill. I run a single final radio and a 2-pill and I can drive the piss out of a 8 pill. PM me if anyone has any advice or help to resolve my receive issues and how to make this radio swing some RMS watts. It barely moves on the meter!!!! (hmmm. It is not biased Class C, it is more like a Fisher Star amp..huh). Thanks!!

There is a cap in parallel with the feedback resistor of the mic preamp IC. Just remove it to sharpen up the audio. C154 is the part number, next to IC4.
