Does the general TX mod on the 857d cause you to loose ARS? Can it be undone?

Does the general TX mod on the 857d cause you to loose ARS? I have heard hat it does. Can it be undone? I have heard that it is a permanent deal... but how could it be permanent? makes no sense

AHHHH!!, I learn something new everyday!!! I bought my FT-857D from a friend but the mod for general coverage had already been done. I noticed that I had to manually set the offsets for repeater use and couldnt understand that.

Yes it can be undone, but you'll need to reconfigure the solder pads back to their original configuration, it's for that reason alone I don't remove anything from the board, merely lift one end of a component, be that a resistor or diode, of course a soldered jumper is easy enough to desolder.
I did this with a Kenwood TH F7E HT that I took with me whilst staying with a cousin in California, I wanted to access his local repeaters, however they were on 146MHz (2m in the UK is only 144/145MHz), a simple mod to open up the rig and simple mod to restore it back to how it should be for the UK ;)
