Bugs coming in decent yet? Spillway or pond? I'm about ready for some. Hopefully the price won't be like giraffe nookie this year. We will have our annual boil in April with around 30 sacks getting the hot tub treatment.
They are a nice size. Pond only for me. Spillway is for the people closer to the Big Easy. When it's time to plant rice the Pond Crawfish stop and then we get the Atchafalaya Basin Crawfish.
Right now I am paying 25.00 for a 5 pound order at the drive thru.

$5 bucks a pound. Don't think I can go that route. I'll buy at $1.39 live and boil myself. I usually get them from either Baton Rouge or Lafayette. Love the Spillway bugs as they are usually much bigger and cleaner........that is if a mudbug can be clean. Of course I have managed to get in the middle of the pond bug wars and buy as cheap as 20 cents a pound. Hopefully there will be a good season this year. Love my bugs and the comradarie that comes with it.

The price will go down after Lent. I don't mind paying the price for the convenience. I live in Lafayette and I can get live pond for 80 cents per pound but by the time I get off of work and go and get them and boil them I've starved to death. hahahaha
I love my crawfish. Right now the size is perfect. I get them from Crawfish Time. Less than a mile from my house and I know the owners so my order is always heavy and they give me free onions, potatoes, mushrooms and sausage. But then again, is it really free? My tab is usually 175.00 a month during the season.
Just on an outside chance do you know Rachel Bernice? At least Bernice used to be her last name. Her fathers name was Saun. She lived in St Martinville had gotten married, ran a bar, got divorced and who knows what. Big Red.......she was called. Her hair and attitude fits that perfect. Carla and Andy lived in Lafayette.
