Ive had this since 1997 and it this past year went crazy on the mod meter side its really jumpy and nearly impossible to calibrate and or use. I guess I can get a new one but would like to take a shot at repairing this one first since its been good to me for so long. Any ideas resistor diode possibly? Any of you ever had this issue?

I have a PM1000 that does that. I hardly use it, I like my Mighty Fine Junk.

While I calibrate, it acts like the calibrate adjustment is dirty or damaged.

No such trouble on SWR calibrate.

I'd like to hear a cure also.

Dirty pots and/or switches in the meter? I know some of mine suffered from this in the past. Stupid house is very, very dry in the winter, even w/a humidifier running!
Hope ya figure it out man.Slim.

tony,

most likely you just need to spray some contact cleaner in the pots and switches and move them back and forth rapidly several times.

works wonders.

you can probably still buy a can a radio shack, but im not sure.
otherwise, its an electronics shop that will carry it.

good luck,
LC

So I have a cobra 138xlr and the meter dose not work... It dose not key up and signal dose not work.... It is not stuck it the meter moves freely. now wires are resoldered on both ends...So now that do I look at. Could it be a diode or a transistor?
