I have a Drake W-4, I have no manual or anything on it. Could someone help me out on a manual. Also I am interested on being able to use a longer wire line coming out of line section to meter. Currently I believe it is something like 39 inches+/-. I would like to be able to use a longer run like 6-12 feet. Anybody have an idea of what wire would be OK to use that would not cause serious degradation(losses) to incure. Any help or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Crusher

you mean coax coming from the radio to the meter? 6 or 12 shouldn't be a problem :)

Yeah, that picture is right on the money. I have dial-up, so it's taken awhile to download manual. Running a jumper from radio to meter isn't a problem. There is a little box that comes off with a couple of screws. Kinda like a remote feature. Like taking the line section out of a bird, installing at the amp and running the meter up front near the driver so that I don't have to run RF all thru the car. That way I don't have an extra 15 feet of coax in car.

Crusher,
I'm assuming the cable you're talking about is from a remote head to the meter body (didn't know it was a remote-meter). If so, then lengthening it 'some' shouldn't make a lot of difference. No idea about the 6 - 12 feet thingy though, but would assume that it would make some difference in the relative readings. You could always 'allow' for that I guess.

Yup, it has remote capability. I was wondering what cable would be OK to use. I think it is a 2 maybe 3 conducter in a sheath. Almost like PA wire. I might see if I can use the same stuff that is used for a Bird or a Comet meter. I could not see any info or such on the cable itself.

Whatever size wire harness you use should be OK because no high current or voltage is carried through the harness. Just to be cautious use a shielded harness.
