Driverless cars

So a few months back gov. Jerry Brown of California gave it the OK for driverless vehicles.

Well i was thinking that the first one should be a city bus with IR sensors to stop at a bus stop if a human is waiting to catch the bus. I think that would be a good first build.

Supposidly by 2015 give or take is when these driverless vehicles will be on the road. I am all in for this type of technology and i also think its time to replace humans (mortals) with robots ie: doctors, policemen, firemen, even gas station clerks.

I was in LA last year...dirverless would be an improvement.

Robot controlled by a human or is the robot able to do the task by its self ?

I was at Heathrow airport in 1981 and again in 1983. Both times the buses that took the passengers to the aircraft on the tarmac were driverless. Nothing any freakier than waiting in a glassed in lounge and a driverless bus pulls up and opens the door for you. This must have been one of if not the earliest such use of driverless vehicles.

I'm thinking controlled by a real surgeon. It is just less invasive and more precise than an incision and human hands.

Ah like that tv commercial for kayak lol well sorta ....where the surgeon uses the the tools on the guys brain to use a laptop and get a vacation appointment.

that was not a real surgeon...but he did stay at a holiday inn the night before!

I'm pretty sure I could get my Wolf in on that program. She put her paw on the wheel the other day...enough pressure to keep it from moving but didn't push it one way or the other. And NO I wasn't moving at the time she did this.

Looks like they will be out of the price range to all but the rich and famous for at least 10 more years. That Google car has 220,000 just in electronics not including the cost of the car itself. Cool idea though.
