Yup 500 continuous but will handle 1500 for short periods safely and yes it is oil cooled.

Even better with forced air on it.

I personally have never put more than 750 in it and I'm the original owner.

Jeesh I did a Google on Termaline real quick and here is another monster:
Bird 8890-300 Termaline RF Load (New) 2500 Watts DC to 2.5 GHz 5000 Watts w/BA-300 Optional Blower Assembly, Martin RF Supply
mm ouch $1400. Yours is minty even for being old! Would you recommend buying a "Used" Load or just go new?

Look's like i found the same one you have: http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-5...0001&campid=5336136228&icep_item=261051241526 But yours looks like it has a long goose neck on the front

Martins or birdman tim is a good dealer for good used and tested equipment and would not hesitate to buy from them.

Here's a 25kW air cooled load that overheated. There were aluminum drippings on the air exhaust. To the right is a 25kW liquid cooled load. It has a water pump and two radiators to get rid of the heat. The actual resistor is only rated at 200 watts, but with continuous water flow is good for much more. The copper pipe is coaxial cable. 3 inch copper outer conductor and about 1-1/2 inch inner conductor. The round blue thing is a coaxial switch.

Capt Kilowatt may recognize the room...

Jeeeesh Warren, that looks nasty. From the looks of it and the switch on the back wall I would say it is the CHFX/Country 101 building? It's been a while but that would be my guess. It's not one of yours though is it?

BTW, for those that keep referring to using "hardline" as transmission line, that is hardline in the above photos. A lot of people mistakenly call heliax cable hardline simply because it is hard shelled compared to regular coax cable.

That's the room. The main transmitter was operating at 10kW into the load. There was a power outage and the dummy load didn't have back up power for the fan. The main transmitter was on generator power and continued to operate.

I should take some pics of the 90 degree elbows in various sizes too. The largest we use has a 6 inch outer diameter. Even that gets warm with 70kW applied.

LOL Sounds like Robert was trying to save money by not buying an extension cord. Or better yet, having the room wired properly. That load should have been plugged into an outlet with back up power available.
