Well today before I put up my Imax, Robb and I had a short DX conversation before Mother Nature cut us off. Up to that point it was just Robb and me. He made a call from California and I heard him say World Radio, California, and I went back to him and that got it started, but it didn't last long.

Will the contact was good your Imax was broadcasting. How did the switch between the GM and the A99, with both at the same mount height compare Robb? Give us a little DX contact report.

How was the traffic on your end when you broke Robb?

At first, I heard you call my WR-11 numbers. It was weak at first, but conditions were changing for the better. You sounded stronger, clearer, and a little louder when you switched from the A99 to the SGM. I know you don't put much stock to DX reports for antenna checks; but the few times that we have talked and you switched to the SGM, the signal improved in every way.

This video was provided by a local World Radio club member (Brian WR-264) in the Bay Area.

Tim/Knight Patrol 82 out of Galveston TX came over your head a few times; but he runs a 3 element beam. At this time conditions started to fade a little bit, but then you came back and we talked well/long enough to discuss the WWRF being offline. We also discussed the price gouging by H&Y Electronics for the SGM. We had a real pipeline going for more than a few minutes. Then, a lot of traffic began from all over the NW, the Deep South, and the Mid West.

Nice conditions today for awhile.
Be listening for you tomorrow - Marconi; and let's see/hear how that Imax measures up to the SGM . . .

I talk to Tim in Galveston occasionally and he tells me that he is mobile and that he has located hot spots on the island where he can DX and hear local traffic in Houston about 60+ miles North. Downtown Houston, is between me and the island, so when I can hear anyone on Galveston they have to be on a hot spot. When this happens Tim shows a S7-S9 on my meter and I know he is benefiting from the affects of sea water in those hot spots he has found. He tells me those spots are always close to the water.

I can only guess that during such good local conditions with the island, that we are benefiting from both direct wave in combination with in phase sky waves. Working Tim on the island is also remarkable. The first time I talked to Tim on Galveston was one of those occasions and I was 80 miles SE of Corpus Christi, Tex, a bit over 300 miles away at my parents ranch where I grew up. I often hear DX operators talking to Tim, and at times I can't hear him, so conditions also control even Mother Earth's ground and sea water's best work.

Robb, I also noticed our contact just as you described, and that Imax was talking big time during the peak. On occasion I talk to Larry (DxMan), Jeff (AudioShockwave), and I've talked to Scott (007) and the fellow named Tim who you may know in Cal, he also has a Gain Master. But that's it on the forum any more. In the good old days that number of contacts would be close to 50 guys maybe all over the states.

Thank Brian for the video.

Yeah Tim/KP-82 is a great contact to make. I have talked to him several times in the recent past. He suggested that I join the cluster.dk group, but that didn't pan out. They don't check membership requests very often from what I was told. This forum does that fine for my tastes, as far as reporting DX contacts . . .

Talked to Larry/DXman this morning myself. He had just come back from hunting wild coyotes before the cattle begin to drop their calves, as there are too many coyotes. He didn't get any, so he will have to go back out there again. He also wondered about the WWRF problem this morning too.

Talked to Jeff just last week. When he wants to talk to me - he has NO problem making the trip from the Sierra Nevada Mtns to the Bay Area w/o skip conditions. His 4,000 ft elevation makes a straight shot down here into the Santa Clara valley. Maybe this week he will give me another shout. I monitor .385/LSB very often.

Only talked to CDX 007 once. And that was recently too - for just a few moments at that. Conditions weren't very favorable that day.

Is the 'other Tim' you are talking about WR-831? If so, he is a new local contact in these parts, as he lives in Hollister CA. About 30 miles to my SE. He's driving a truck these days, and I talk to him at least once a day while he is on his run. Sometimes, even from his house and his Imax(?) station - but weakly. He is also considering putting up a Sirio beam - as I am still in the process of getting mine finished too. We talked about the Sirio vs Gizmotchy beams, and I told him I would go with the Sirio if I had to do it again . . .
