WHOOO HOOOO

Just got my DXCC 100 confirmed different country contacts on LOTW all SSB.

All less than one year of getting my license. Some where real tough to get like Yemen/Lesotho/Bosnia among a few. Also some real big pile ups to get thru.

May not mean much to some but it does to me. Having to work 5-6 days a week and equipment issues, I dont think I did so bad.. Now to try and get my WAS. Also E-QSL DXCC...

Congrats on DXCC.

How does it break down by band?

I'm at 91 confirmed (mostly on LOTW) Hoping to ramp that up I went ahead and sent out paper QSL's to another 10 countries during December.

The higher bands have been the best for me. I have 50 confirmed on both 10 & 15 meters. On 20 that drops down to 40 countries and even fewer on 40 meters with 25. 80 meters is rough for me with less then 20 confirmed.

For me its a fun challenge with only 100 watts and a vertical.

I agree it can be challenging lately on 10 meters.

I was really hoping to do some damage in the recent 10 meter contest and the band was pretty flat.

I set DXCC as a goal a little over a year ago. Longer term I would like to reach DXCC on each of the main bands.

I've noticed that it seems harder to get LOTW confirmations on 17 meters as more people there aren't using LOTW. I have 16 countries confirmed on 17m but had to send paper cards for a couple of them like Poland and Greece.

I would like to increase my counts on the upper bands before the current solar cycle flattens out any more.

Cool Bruce.....:w00t:

Now you only need 232 more to get your Total DXCC:crying:

or a meer 67 to get DXCC on one band

All the Best
Gary

PS: DXCC via LOTW does add you to the ARRL "suk-up" club also:)

Actually on 15 meters I show to have 67 countrys confirmed for that band, followed by 20 meters @40,
It was when I clicked "phone" for my DXCC that is how it broke down for what bands/countrys. Keep in mind I have worked different DX stations on multi bands but only counted as 1 towards DXCC But counts toward multi band contacts. If I am reading correctly I have 179 towards 5 band DXCC.
Some one correct me if I am incorrect on that presumption....

Bruce and All : Just ribbing you young whipper snappers!:p

Chasing the "Wallpaper" is fun...and I still dabble....though since getting my first call in 1979....I have most likely been around the horn once or twice.
Back in "them old days" when a Novice Class had "ZERO" phone privileges.(and even Tech's 2m and up....eeegad!)
We Novice/Tech's had CW only on HF, (80/40/15M ONLY!) and I think a max of 100 watts Input....
I had 100+ countries on the 15 meter Novice Band (21.100-21.200)...
It was great fun...
I still enjoy the "chase" now and then, and try and pick-up some of the new callsigns as they come out.
I think my best was when I got "Behind the Iron Curtain" the first time (Y22xx) I think ? (East Germany)....That was unheard of at the time...Still have that card "somewhere"!.... I was running about 20 watts max with and old Heathkit HX-11 xtal controlled transmitter and a Allied Radio Receiver....
That was Snap switch/Snap switch /send...snap/snap receive...
No QSK/No full or semi Break-in:thumbup: It was Still great fun...
I remember getting my first set of NOS Kenwood 599 Twins:wub:....(1980)
Man I had reach the Pinnacle!
All the Best

I think the thrill of working behind the iron curtain during the cold war days would be hard to top anymore.

It sounds like 15m is your money band. What are you running for an antenna? Also are you running 100 watts or do you have an amp?

6meter,
Yes 15 meter has been good to me right now.. first it was 20 meters but thru the summer it was 15 followed by 17.

Current antenna is a Hygain th5mm tri band at about 50 ft in the air also a cushcraft R7 @60 ft above the Triband.

My rig is a Kenwood TS690S/AT barefoot right now, Had a National NCL 2000 for a while but it went south and currently being restored.. Going to be interesting to see how this winter plays out..

Last year this time I had a Imax 2000 w/Galaxy radio, Then got a Kenwood 430 and a end feed wire..
Then upgraded to a Cushcraft R5.. Found the beam in about april and had it up about June with a Kenwood TS50 and a wore out Henry 2K (Next to restore)

Last few weeks have been dead on the bands here hope things pick up a bit...
73's Bruce

PS: what is your location and Equipment?

Latest project Kenwood TS790A with a pair of Cushcraft 215's on a 40' crank up
I like Kenwood Equipment for some reason

A tri-band at 50 feet gives you a nice boost in your signal.

I'm running a ground mounted vertical for HF. Also have a wire at about 30 feet for the lower bands.

When I decided to get active on HF I tried out a Kenwood TS2000 but didn't like the front panel. To many very small buttons and controls.

So after looking at the FT950 I went with the Yaseu. I really liked that radio and had no intention of upgrading from it. Then I ran into a deal I couldn't pass up on an Icom 756 pro2 and thats what I'm running now.

.

Well I need all the help I can get,
My QTH is about the lowest part of town.. Even the freeway is above me and with 50 feet of tower it just clears it by like 10 feet.

But on the other hand I do hear stuff that others in Phoenix do not, Thinking that the mountians around me act like a parabolic dish and bring the "wave" down into my area

There is a few of us that monitor one of the local 2 meter repeaters that chase DX together and spot it for the next, Kinda fun
