I use this model, J-045-DS, and it is necessary from time to time to replace the tip. A few years ago I found some and bought a few. Had I known then, that they would be hard to find in time, I would have bought more.

Does anyone have any of these? Im not holding my breath, so what de-soldering iron do you use? Are the consumables readily available? Thanks for looking.

That iron, (I think) was a private label by Weller..."IF" anybody would know where to get one it would be Bruce.

PS: Don't be surprised if you don't get an Email response for a day or two...Family own biz and they do a TON of Hamfests and computer shows etc. Many weekends gone to shows.
Thanks BJ! I sent a message to them. Hopefully they have, or can get, a few of these as I've grown quite fond of this tool. I see some electronic vacuum type tools that are >$120, but I'm skeptical and haven't tried one yet. I really prefer the bulb type. I have plenty of the plunger type solder suckers but they're not great for existing component removal, unless you can get to the lead from the component side with the iron, but seem more for cleaning out empty holes or removing excess blobs.

I've been looking for those tips too, everywhere is sold out and they're not more.

I couldn't find the radioshack tips either. Let me know if you do any good.

Thank you so much, I placed an order, let's see what comes! I hope it is well, I bought 5 sets to get a discount. That should last me about 3 years of heavy recapping/unsoldering unless I really dog them, which I did until I put on the last.

Update...
The site is legit, I may have the last pack of tips in existence.

Well, I did find a site that says they have them, at over $30 a set. I also found a scam site listing them for a little over $2 each set. I won't stop searching, like Indiana Jones looking for the lost ark.
