echo board in base?

or only mobile, it seems that 12v power source is issue. I tried to hook to power supply with the 12v wire, also tried grnd from pwr supply but got no reults?

Would you mind prasing your answer in the form of a question and please tell us what you are talking about, like which radio,which echo board and why would you use a power supply to power an echo board when you have a perfectly good switched 12v power source in most radios?

my apologies, the radio is a cobra 139xlr base, the echo board is a rf limited br-1. I couldn't find 12v. I found 8v on the meter lights, but instructions said 12. I am techinally illiterate inside the radio. if you could help I would surely appreciate it. Thanks, petey

look at the power supply section inside the radio.its right next to the transformer.on the power supply board there is a 12v lead.look for 2 wires coming from that board going to the radio board.they should be red and maybe black.probe them with a vom if you know how .or you could get the power you need right off the on/off/volume switch.

I put a echo board in that same radio about a year ago - worked fine. Follow the advice above and use a volt meter to locat ehte 12 v source.

just my two pennies, but i think you're not going to like the ECHO from that br-1. it is more of a reverb board. but to each his own. might wanna try a trb-x2 or the good ol' "connex board". they both work very well for echo. the trb-x2 is digital, though. some don't like the sound of a digital echo. but, there again, opinions vary.

The easiest source for switched 12v is on the on/off selector and is near all the other essential connections to be made for that board like the microphone and you may have to remove the switch to access the terminals which is as easy as unplugging the power first the gently pull off the volume knob and then remove the thin nut that retains the on/off volume switch and with the switch in a safe position with no chance of shorting out then reconnect the power then check for 12v on the switch terminals with the switch in both on and off positions to make sure you have the correct terminal and solder your echo board power source there.

i had that br-1 board in my 78ltw that i got from sparkys . i hated it ! was the only thing sparky had that would fit at the time and it was a new product and not much in the way of info on it .i took out the br-1 and i got a ec-2018 xtreem mic and ive been %200 satisified with it !! you may be able to use the talkback feature on the mic since its a cobra/uniden product . seems like i recall reading somewhere about someone using it on a cobra 2000 base and the TB worked .
