dear om
i like to operate with a eco750 pa using 48v
I have a FT7900
but i think it not possible has i see no ptt on the transceiver
Has Yaesu or another a tx only for the 2 meter i can use.
thank you for advice

Since the FT-7900 obviously doesn't have a built in relay for keying an amp you can key the amp manually with a Heil FS-2 footswitch or any number of other ways. Medical hand switch, etc.

The advantage to using the Heil footswitch is that it will key both the radio and amp and there is a short delay that keys the amp first before the radio. link below.

Thank you for reply and help
Can i ask to the dealer footswitch if he has the cables to hook the ft2900r and the eco
or is it something i have to find out and solder myself

I looked at the op's manual for your rig. I seen on the Data jack used for keying a TNC Unit for Packet use. There are Pins that are marked PTT and ground.
Seeing this I would think you could use a Fast "buffer" relay and key the external amplifier via these connections.
I have seen somewhere another op used these lines to key an opto device to drive a small high speed reed relay or "Ice cube" type relay and then used it's contacts to key the external amplifier....
However I can not find it...
Maybe one of the other Forum members can help...with that PTT line coming from the rig , I would think there should be a way to "rig" an interface relay of some kind to key the external amplifier...while keeping the FT7900 safe from any voltage used to key the external amplifier...
All the Best
Gary

The footswitch has a male phono plug on the line to key the radio. The other line is a male rca that connects to the rca relay jack on the amp(assuming this is available on the rear of the amp?).

You would have to figure out how to wire a female connector to the modular plug on the 7900's mic to key it if that's the route you chose. Otherwise just browse the net for an adaptor. I made my own modular mic plug/key line some years ago so I could use an SB-200 with a Yaesu FT-450 that didn't have a soft start module installed.

The mic on your 2 meter mobile might be a bit more complicated that the wiring for a Heil GM4.
