Very nice radio. The noise reduction, when tweaking the AGC threshold make for pleasant sounding audio. Menus are easily accessible. Tons of CW adjustments. Stock mic is getting good audio reports. The display is easily readable. It's about the size of a TS-50's display. It has a tune button that allows up to a 10 watt carrier to tune an external tuner. The tune carrier can be adjusted for power and duration. The PTT can disable the amp while tuning, which is very useful.
The software interface is nice. It allows additional functions not available in standalone mode. If you want to to get crazy with transmit audio, the software interface must be used with a USB microphone. The hand mic cannot be processed.
I have prior experience with FLEX, Anan and various SDR receivers. While the software is cool, I find it to be to busy. I much prefer using this radio in standalone mode exclusively. Presently, I have it configured with an RM Italy HLA-150, MFJ-939 tuner. I have amp adjusted between 90-100 watts PEP. On air reports are good with stock hand mic. The ELAD accepts ICOM microphones. I've yet to experiment my Heil ICOM hand mics. I like having big radio sound in a small footprint.
