I have two of those. I got them NOS/NIB for $30 each could not say no! Heavy sucker's. In most light aircraft I have flown you either have one of these in the aircraft or you have a Astatic Ugly Stick style Carbon Mic. Seldom do people use them today they use the electret boom mic in their head set but you freq. hit the PTT on the hand mic to activate the radio still. If you do not hit the ptt it defaults to VOX for in cockpit intercom on most systems in older aircraft.

I have a 602F I think it is too and that one has frew response up to 7000 but it is not noise canceling and was designed for PA and radio use in noisy but not aircraft level noise levels and is not amplified. $8 that was NOS/NIB too. I would like to find a good 603 body with good switch that I can play with cheap!

When I ordered them the seller did not know what he had because Electro Voice seldom puts anything on the outside of the box but marks them on the back of the unit and put's the right paper work in the bottom of the box. So all I knew was that they where EV hadn mic's. I was just wanting the body to stuff with Electret's but when I opened the box I could not bring myself to butcher them.

In Aviation Avionics Stores the cartridge alone starts at about $75 I think it is part number ND86099 if I remember right. Fascinates my wife that I can remember long part numbers but not dates and times! LOL I worked for a large American Automotive company and all part numbers where at least 8 digits a lot where longer! It is like a waitress remember peoples food order's or who is drinking what!

It has me wondering if this is similar to the ND86 vocal mic element design with neodynium magnet or if it is more like the RE20.

For those that are not Mic Nazi's the RE20's cartridge is made up from 400 parts I think and use's ceramic magnet the more modern RE320 is made up of I think 20 parts and uses neodymium magnet. The 602T also has a humbucking coil to keep out various repetitive noise sources like electrical noise and such!

I like the switches in the EV hand mic's they are rated for 250,000 repetitions!

Did you remove the amplifier unit permanently on this or did you just take it out to mount your white package in it? Is that impedance transformer or some solid state kit in it? I thought the impedance is between 100-500 ohms? If it is too high why not use a JFET for impedance matching? Did you put an electret in it?

on the 602 T and the 603 t I removed the amplifier in both. the frequency response of the 603 T sucks so I tossed them all in a box until recently when I discovered electrets. the 602 series is noise cancelling and the element is 150 ohm element and I used a Transformer from a Telex Turner Road King 56 to bump the impedance up to 600 Ohms. I like the 603 T body best out of all of them but the 602 T seems to have the best sound so far.
I'm still experimenting with an electret in the 603 T body.
