IF YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT AN COILY ENFORCER THAY ARE NO LONGER AVALIEBLE. I HAVE BEEN TOLD HE WENT OUT OF BUSINESS, THAT IS TO BAD BECAUSE IT IS THE BEST GROUND PLANE ANTENNA I HAVE EVER SEEN OR USED.

giannibulldog,
Hi! You are getting into an area that has quite a few opinions about how 'good' something is, that will be a real adventure! So just a few thoughts about antennas in general.
An antenna is 'good' if it happens to put a signal where you would like for it to go (radiation pattern). That depends on a couple of things that vary with each individual installation, not just the particular antenna in question (how/where it's mounted, what's around it,etc.). If all of those things are taken into account, THEN the particular antenna being used can be compared to other antennas used in the exact same situation. If part of that 'situation' changes, so do the results of the comparison. That can be either good or bad.
Having said all that, it sort of boils down to just how much difference is expected, and possible. The nearest typical antenna to the one you question is a 5/8 wave, .625 x wavelength. The difference between the two is .015 x wavelength, or about 6 inches. While there will be some slight difference in radiation pattern, it's going to be so small of a difference that it isn't going to make any practical, or useful, difference at all. There will be quite a few opinions about that, get ready! :)
None of this says anything about how 'good/bad' that 'enforcer.64' is, or if it's still available (no idea). Have fun!

PS - My grandparents were from Caravalo (not sure of the spelling), down near the 'bottom' of your country. Wish I had found out more about it while I could, but like most kids of that age, I didn't...

I am sorry for the misunderstanding. What i ment was it is a shame that such a fine antenna is no longer being produced.

hi W5LZ, i agree about what have you told . . . . but i thought somebody had try both antennas and he/she could tell his/her impressions. i had a great antenna "sigma mantova 5" . . . then ( this winter) i had tried a "solarcon imax 2000" and some difference i have seen . . . a little more gain and a better pacification . . . we have tried tha antenna using the same pole , the same rtx, the same pwr . . . so we have tried the performance, so we'll have tried the "enforcer.64" with the others antennas . . . . but, unfortunately, we haven't it . . . for this reason we have asked to you .. . . . ok ???? .. . . thank for every info you'll want tell us (italian cb'ers) i wish you a good day. . . . .......... giannibulldog

gianni,

if you live in italy and are looking for a superior ground plane antenna design then find a dealer who carries the euro version of the SigmaIV, also named LW-150 or similar under the SIRIO Vector 4000 brand name.

you'll forget all about the enforcer and save a bundle on shipping.

He can also purchase the remake of the tried and true Avanti Astro Plane.

the Astro Plane was a smokin antenna Im not sure about the remakes but the company thats remaking them is a great antenna builder I was wondering if anyone out here has run any of the sirio base or mobile antennas?

hi freecell:), thank you for this advice . . . i really appreciate all the help you have given me (y). . . . but try an ENFORCER.64 is my great dream:wub:: . . . . here in italy the SIRIO VECTOR 4000 is well known and many cb'erc use it . . . good performance on long distance but at medium and short we have seen that the SIGMA MANTOVA 5 is better than sirio . . . . we have done the test using same pole and same trx . . . . we have tried others antennas that afternoon and "the best " is resulted the SOLARCON IMAX 2000 same signal on trx like MANTOVA 5 but more noiseless . . . good SIRIO 827 TURBO well done and lately get better . . . it's all right . . . . . but now we want exaggerate . . . . go over the top(y) . . . but nobody can tell me something about this antenna ???? i like much . . . . .
for all my friend sorry if sometimes i don't comment upon well . . . but my english is very rusty . . . . be patient . . . thank you and happy time to everybody . . . . . bye

"good performance on long distance but at medium and short we have seen that the SIGMA MANTOVA 5 is better than sirio . . . . we have done the test using same pole and same trx . . . . we have tried others antennas that afternoon and "the best " is resulted the SOLARCON IMAX 2000 same signal on trx like MANTOVA 5 but more noiseless "

well that all makes perfect sense because the SigmaIV / LW-150 / Sirio Vector 4000 is PRIMARILY DESIGNED FOR ESTABLISHING AND MAINTAINING LONG DISTANCE COMMUNICATION LINKS. the antennas that work better over shorter distances do so because they generate the bulk of the radiated energy at higher angle lobes and so it is understandable.

Good DX,

The new ones are good if you change all the plastic washers and other hardware to metal.

My buddy bought one from H&Y and it worked half assed till we swapped out the hardware.
