Euro C.B. Power Mike

Hello Raccoon,

Did you have any luck wiring up the Euro CB? Is this the expander 500 desk mic? I have one of these but haven't used it yet, was wondering what its performance is like, and
how it compares to an original turner exp 500.

Thanks, 43 Echo 695

Hi there ,
I'm not saying that the old Euro radio's are a C.B. actually ... but this was a handheld power mic that was given to me to put on my C.B. radio . Anyway, I never did find the code that I needed ... so it sits collecting dust ... sorry I can't be more help.

The Euro Expander 500 compares to the original Turner only in looks. The Turner Expander 500 will sound much better that the Euro clone.

Ever try taking the mike apart enough to see which wires serve which functions? (A good VOM will help). Figure it out that way. Then you can figure out how to cobble it into something your radio will recognize.

Thanks IMD 262. Will the Euro cb 500 at least be an improvement on a stock handheld mic? The mic is for a DX 2547, and was chosen in part for the good colour matching
between the two.

Of note also, the Zetagi (Italy) brand of desk mics are cloned under the Syncron brand.
The box/packaging of the Euro cb 500 & and the Syncrons suggest they come from the same (Phillipines I think) factory.

The Turner clones will give a boost in modulation if thats what you need. The quality of the audio could be hit or miss.I tried a Euro Expander and the reports I received said it was thin and tinny. Another operator i know used one and was satified with it.I don't know how many of the original Turner Expander 500's made it to the 43 division, but if you can find one I'm sure you will bw pleased.
