Export Radios, Amps, and the Police?

I think that if you are in possession of an amp the fcc will assume you use it. Without a ham ticket and a CB radio they will assume the truth.

The parking cop sounds deranged. You should have asked for her call sign. This is one of those times where you don't offer up too much info and these kinds of people will leave you alone. People thinking you're dumb isn't always bad.

I know this is an old thread, but back about 24 years ago roughly a customer was carrying a buddy's amp across the next-door truck-stop's parking lot towards my shop for some tests, and a pair of FCC agents were in the neighborhood after investigating my shop for violations (they didn't find anything except a 23-channel radio I had for sale - I didn't know you couldn't sell them legally due to spec changes). They saw him, confiscated the amp, and his company apparently fired him over the incident. No idea how they found out, but yes, you can get into trouble by just possessing an improper piece of gear.

If only he had had a ham ticket....

That's why I won't know a thing. That's not mine! Somebody put that in there Mr Ocifer!

That's what they always say when they catch the guys on COPS :ROFLMAO:
Lol I remember the classic one of the guy had a doobie behind his ear. The cops were asking are you sure you don't have any marijuana, no man I don't have any weed, as the camera keeps zooming into the joint behind his ear. Haha

After reading this entire thread I am ever so thankful that I live out here in the wilderness of Canada ! There's no Cops. No FCC. No government agents of any kind except the occasional fisheries officer. No busy bodies. No TV signals at all to interfere with. No radio rambos. Neighbors far enough away to not be a problem.
Just me & my family and friends, the ocean, the trees, and my radios and amps.
Phew !

There was a dude in Lancaster, Ohio that talked all night with a big splatter box. The neighbors complained for a long time about TV interference. The Lancaster police department got a warrant and came in and took his junk. They cited him, but the case never went any further, but they kept his box. They utilized the FCC rule that allows local enforcement.

How legal all this was, IDK. It did happen. He still talked on CB. He died around 15 years ago.
