Fake Galaxy Radios.

How do you know they are fake? They could be marketed in Europe under a different name. For many years you could not buy a Yaesu ham radio in Europe. All you could get was Sommerkamp which is a rebranded Yaesu for the European market. Cherokee is known in Europe as Albreicht. Might be just another name for the same radio.

I had thought about that and fired of a query to Galaxy to see if they were re-brands or copies.
I will post their response.

Whatever happened to "Mirage"?

Also that website is from Poland, home of the screen door on a submarine I'm told.

Very true, there are Manufactures that build radios that use the same cases, knobs, faceplates, boards and so on and build them for different people with the XYB brand name on them. If you go back to the web site listed above, and click on " CB Radia" on the left hand menu, it will take you to the different brands they sell, click on the Alan-48 Plus Multi radio, and then click on the picture of the radio to enlarge it....you will see that the radio in the picture is branded " Midland CB Trancever".
This radio is not built By Midland International, just like Cobra is not built by Dynascan anymore

This has been going on for years.......
Alan, Sommerkamp, Dirkland, Mirage, Non DX series Galaxy( Pluto,Uranus, Sirius,Jupiter), Connex, Excalibur Samurai and so on.
There are only about 3 big Factorys cranking out radios Now days, lots of inventory of bulk parts, and what ever label you want to put on them.

So that would make it an "export" radio?

Well, I guess so depending on what you mean by "export" but if someone imports it and doesn't "export" it, then it could be considered smuggling. Don't think anyone wants to get arrested for that, just to save a few dollars.

I see. How is this radio any different than your average Galaxy, Ranger, whatever "10 meter " or "export" radio?

This may be old news but the Tech at Galaxy asked me if I had noticed the 10M radios showing back up on eBay.
Seems the FCC and eBay have changed their mind for the time being about 10M radios.
