FCC Looks to Revise, Clarify Vanity Call Sign Rules

On Wednesday, November 25, the FCC issued a Notice of Proposed Rule Making (NPRM) -- WT Docket No. 09-209 -- seeking to amend the Commission's Amateur Radio Service rules to clarify certain rules and codify existing procedures governing the vanity call sign system, as well as revise certain rules applicable to club stations.

i have been following 1x2, 2x1 call availibility. they are few and far between.

clubs should be limited to 2x3 calls only and only allowed to hold ONE call and NOT allowed to have a vanity call.

a "club" never passed the extra written element:w00t:,

all clubs should have restricted prefixes. why did the FCC do away with the WC call restriction (this goes back a few years) but they still keep the hawaii and alaska restrictions.
