OK so I just got my FTM-350AR and the FGPS-1 module. Tried to insert the ribbon several times but the GPS display option fails to show up :headbang. I finally gave up and decided to give YAESU Amateur Tech support a call. To my surprise they were very helpful. The guy said if there are any creases or the cable bends in any way the ribbon is probably shot. For those who have issues with the cable here is the part number of the little ribbon: T9207421 and it costs $0.76 cents. They will ship it priority mail (5$) so your not paying $30 for express shipping. I ordered 3 just to be safe:thumbup:

Oh yeah, that little cable can be real tricky. That's one of the things I commented on in my review. I'm glad they don't cost much to replace!

I agree, that little cable is a PITA. I found this out the other day as I was installing a FTM-350 into my truck. I have the FGPS-2, and it took a few tries to get the ribbon cable into the slot on the GPS extension cable. However, I found it was easier after I realized you can fold down the little retainer on the front of the ribbon cable socket. I see from the photo, the FGPS-1 is a little different.

I am trying to get the APRS functions up and running. I had a little problem with the APRS receiving on the sub band, but transmitting on the main band. Changing the APRS and Data parameters both to "SUB" seemed to fix the issue.

Good luck with that tiny cable.

Working

Finally got the ribbons I ordered. Installing the one to the control head was easy, just flip the retainer clip and slide in and flip back down. I got big fingers so sliding in the FGPS-1 was tricky. I really did a number on the old cable so it was good practice. With patience I got it in just right. Working great!:w00t:
