ebay is great for one-off purchases, since you can usually find a free shipping offer and small part quantities.
ordering anything from china will extend shipping time by a month so be aware.

Mouser Electronics is a favorite of mine and has been for a long time.
they don't have a minimum order, but your shipping will likely cost more than your parts, so use this place to stock up.

A new source i like since it's close to me is Arrow Electronics. They are a newer player in the game and offer lots of deals. (Robb, if you read this, check this place out. they are close to you i think)

Jameco is a good source for lots of items, especially if you are into computers.

Antique Electronic Supply will have caps, resistors, and other cool parts for old radios and amplifiers.

These are just a few of my favorites off the top of my head, and i'm actually excited to see what others have to say on this.

Jameco is also very close to where I lived as well.
I'll check out Arrow; thanks.

Just made an order to Mouser today - matter of fact.
Digikey is also a favorite too.

As far a having a broken lead on the cap, you might still be able to put a dab of solder on it and put it back into play. 2sc945 can be found in scrap radio chassis. So can your cap. Helps to have a few parts radios to scavenge from when needed. You can find them at flea markets and garage sales.

AS a rule, I don't like recommending NTE or ECG parts, but in this case the NTE part equivalent is a NTE85.

Thanks for the reply... I pulled the cap out of a bone stock cobra 140 gtl... that I bought on eBay for 80 bucks shipped... its probly a 6 out of 10 cosmetically... but it works to well to be a parts rig. I'm tempted to pull the tr32 limiter transistor out of it.... but like I said it's to good to part it out. I will look into nte85. It just seems hard to find some of the parts... especially because of all the fakes on eBay etc

Not exactly my idea of a parts radio. But if you must borrow from Peter to pay Paul in an effort to get one working for test purposes, I can understand that. So many cheap non working radios that can be picked for next to nothing are the ones that will contain most of the parts that you may need. Good hunting . . .

the 2SC945 is about the most common transistor ever made.

there are no fakes out there, as there would be no point.

when the world ends, there will only be cockaroaches, 29LTD's and 2sc945 transistors left.

any of them will work for you, since they are usually being used as switches or general purpose amplifiers.

here is a little article on testing transistors and diodes with a multimeter.
https://www.electronics-notes.com/articles/test-methods/meters/multimeter-diode-transistor-test.php

this can save you guessing with whether or not to try replacing a part.

Thank you,I will read over that article... I know for sure I need to replace this transistor, because somebody cut the collector leg off. I just don't want to run a radio with a cut limiter.
