Folded Dipole

I really should buy that 500', $12 roll of speaker wire, cut up some plastic clothes hangars, and a handful of pl259 connectors. Maybe I could get $200 each for two them, invest in a second roll of wire and sell 3 more @ $200. Perhaps I should ask God to look the other way while I steal from folks.
That antenna might be $20 special including shipping and handling . . . but not $200.
What is it that is said about a fool and his money?
Have mercy!

I sold by request a homebrewed 2 element Quad beam for $60, and a homebrewed Astroplane for $35, and someone told me I had skinned the buyer . . . I barely broke even on the cost bundling the two sale prices.
What a deal.

Uncle Sam sure spent a fortune on these. We used them quite a bit back in the day. Their still in use now. However, I'm sure they pay MORE for theirs though.

If anyone would like one of these folded dipoles at half price - $100, just let me know.
I could get used to swindling folks . . . :sneaky2:

If you could assemble one of these antennas for little $$ and sell them for 1/2 of what everybody else sells them for, then you aren't swindling anybody.

Might use 3/4 inch schedule 80 PVC pipe for the spreaders; this will stand up to the UV rays over the long haul.

You know what you are doing; and some else will be paying for your knowledge and experience because they don't know or don't want to be bothered with the finer details of construction. Not a thing wrong with that.

Still like those mobile antenna homebrews of yours, Homer McGyver . . .

EDIT:
That Opek antenna INCLUDES 98 ft of coax & PL-239 connector in that package.
Not a bad price when one considers that too . . .

Hello,

Perhaps the price isnt that bad...

It is not a folded dipole it is a T2FD.

Materials used:
Lots of wire, (not speaker wire i hope hihi) a terminating resistor ....speaking from my mind: 300 ohms or 600 ohm
(it has to handle some "heat"...so cant be a small one )
Further: A 1:6 balun and some isolators rougly 20..30 cm long to keep the wires seperated.
(those can be PVC for "fun" testing....but not for "professional applications".

And then we have the guy who makes the antennas who has to earn a living..

The point im trying to make...there is a bit more going on with this antenna.
And although you could probarbly make them for 100 dollar (and less), im almost certain that can not be done from a manufacturer point of view.

Kind regards,

Henry

I read further into the subject, and I stand corrected on the potential price point of a T2FD antenna when manufactured for a living. ;) Thanks, fellows.

And then finally we "earn" some money....

And we get robbed by the local "re-sellers" who demand 10-15 percent.
Sadly that isnt the only thing feeling like a violation...the gouverment steps in and demands 21 percent.

brrr...dont wanna think too long about those thing,..not on sunday morning hihi.

Kind regards,

henry
