For government or export only!

Universal doesn't do service work anymore for MARS/CAP stuff. This rig comes opened up for full transmit. No conversion or modification needed. It's just their way to avoid scrutiny selling a "modified" rig stateside.

Universal will also not take trades or purchase used items that have been expanded, even if you are MARS/CAP licensed. Depending on the item they will have their in house tech reverse the mod, but it affects what they will offer.

They give pennies on the dollar anyways, just like most other retailers.

That has got to be a joke, or as already said, a "work around" for selling a modified radio. Why would the 'government' buy something like that when they have other, much more capable radios available? The prices on the options listed are so out of reason that it isn't funny.
If someone wants the one reserved for me you have my permission to get it.

There are no government rules for selling an amateur radio that has expanded TX; that is just Universal Radio's policy.

Right now you can buy an Elecraft KX3 that has expanded TX from the factory - every single one are like that. You're expected to know the rules and abide by them.

Universal used to sell high end wide band receivers for government, law enforcement, embassies and the military. It always said for export, government and law enforcement use only. They must still have that mindset with this rig.

Thats exactly right Tim I mean whats the speed limit?? I dont know of any car thats only capable of 65-75 MPH Their all capable of much more unless the engine is tired or broke if you buy a Corvette it will do 150 plus MPH but YOU KNOW THE SPEED LIMIT AND RULES so its up to you what you do with that Corvette and you that is responsible for there of and your own actions and how you are gonna deal with any trouble you should get into and certainly not the manufactures fault or problem ;)
