First, off how dumb is it that when you need to adjust your mic gain as soon as you press SET on the radio to get to the correct menu you loose all RX audio? that's terrible! when on a qso getting Audio reports and needing to adjust mic gain only to miss out on activity while adjusting mic is complete idiotic. (just an FYI, not every set up is equal, some times this rig is used in the field, or mobile in different vehicles. That's why mic gain is changed from time to time when needed)
Secondly, No mic gain on the front panel! instead of DW which is PRIORITY why not put the mic gain setting there so you don't have to dig through a menu?
I know the menu lay out quiet well now but, loosing audio receive while in the menu is a complete JOKE!!!

Is it just my rig or does yours do it to?

On my HF rigs I never have to change the mic gain setting from base to mobile or any other time. My voice is my voice and it does not change so I never have to change the gain. Going from one vehicle to another is no reason to change the gain setting nor is operating in the field. One setting for YOUR voice is all that is required. If you are having too much background noise while mobile then the gain is too high regardless of what other's tell you or what you feel.

What did we ever do with the older radios that had a simple deviation adjustment INSIDE the radio that was set at the factory and was not adjustable unless you opened up the case? Oh I remember,we just operated as usual with great success!! The problem with today's radios is that there is too much stuff to play with in the name of "performance". Set it and forget operation is almost always better for most things.

I made this thread because, the icom 2820, Kenwood tmd710 doesn't have his issues.
A few of our locals on the net mentioned that its very odd the ftm350ar looses rx audio when changing gain or any other menu settings.

For me, having the mic gain adjustment buried in a menu isn't an issue, but it IS annoying that going into the main menu setting on this rig kills the RX.

I don't know if it's something that is widely complained about or not. For me, it was one of those things that I didn't really mind initially, but I've had a few instances lately where it annoyed me.

I'm not sure what updates Yaesu is doing for this radio. I haven't seen any in a while.

Last Firmware update was in Jan-2011...
I have heard they may be "On-Sale" soon (last quarter this year)
Normally that means (depending on the size of the discount) Bye-Bye radio or at least a major upgraded version coming! ???
All the Best

Ftm-400d is its newer model.

I highly doubt the ftm-350 will ever see a update.
