im about to purchase a galaxy 2527 radio.i have heard something in reference to the computer board going bad.if it does you cant get it replaced,is this true and is the radio a decent radio.
thanks for any imput

They are good radios. I wouldnt worry about the cpu just dont let anyone inside it shouldnt have any problems.

I can't see why this would be any more prone to CPU failure then the 2950, which is basically what it is. 2950 did have some failures, the first gen seemed to have more then the later revisions. But again, I don't think it was terrible, or unusually high. As for parts, it is entirely possible you would have to resort to a parts donor radio since the latest revision 2950 is quite different. Good thing is the radio is pretty popular so it wouldn't be impossible.

Personally I've always liked the radio, had a few over the years, and they always did well. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one right now if the price and condition were right....

I have 2 of them and one of them has been used on my bench for about 15 years without a problem not even a lightbulb has failed. run it at 25-30 watts pep and you have not a thing to worry about.

I dont have alot of nice things to say about CB/Export radios but the 2527 is deffiantely my favorite and first choice for a base radio in this bracket. Dont golden screwdriver it or crank it up and beat the piss out of it or you will surely have problems with the power supply being the candidate for the first failure if you choose to beat on it.

Great receive, audio and all around output take care of it be nice to it and dont worry about it.(y)
