galaxy 2547 base

2547

I have one for 3 years now.
15 watts am, 22 ssb. have the extra chnls and speech processor, works great for me, 40-50 miles regular conditions, skip all around the country and world, with a box for help.

No problems, and have a good tech peak/tune, and add extra chnls, processor...sparkys did my unit...

Inside The Galaxy DX 2547 AM/SSB CB Base Station Radio
For a radio that sells for ~$300 new; I would get a used RCI 2980.
The radio is a single-final design; which means it will probably do no more than 13 watts in SSB mode and 4 watts in AM mode - swinging to 12 watts peak. Not an audio monster - but still nice and has some usable features...

If they only new that "spreading" that coil did nothing except increase harmonics and probably drop the avg power output.

The 2547 is basically their mobile am/ssb mobile radio chasis in a pretty case. Same as the Cobra 2000 was basically a 148 GTL in a nice box.

I just bought a refurb Galaxy DX-949 am/ssb radio for $79.95. This weekend I'll tune it up, do the receive mods and replace the voltage regulator. Seems like pretty decent radio as is though for what it is. Also works real nice as a base station. Use the extra $200 for a good antenna and watt meter.

Rats.
