I bought an old Royce 1-640 23 channel ssb base with a new d-104 wired to it. Now I am wondering if it will plug into my new 2547 without changing the wiring on the plug. They are both 4 pinners.

Thanx,
Ronnie :D

the audio 1 and ground 2 on the Royce would need to be reversed to match the Galaxy's 1 ground and 2 audio , the tx and rx are the same. It's tricky all the same because the Royce is Relay switching where the Galaxy is electronic switching. Some of the older D-104s (Tug-8s) have a switch on the bottom that you can change from relay to electronic. Wish I could explain it better for you.

I'll give that a try when the royce gets here. All I need to know I guess, is which 2 of the pin numbers on the mic plug it is that needs changed.

the plugs are usually marked with numbers 1 thru 4 CD , as I said in the other post , it can get tricky when wiring a mic that works on electronic switching to relay switching , even if you rewire the mic correctly it may or may not work , like I said , some of the older styled D-104s will have a switch in the battery compartment with E-R you would want to switch it to the R postion meaning relay for the Royce 23 channel . IM not putting down your Royce here but I would certainly think that your Galaxy is the much more up to date better radio then the Royce and depending on how or even if the Royce has been tuned ? Stock mic's will sound good on them as well.

Heres the real deal. My new 2547 came with a d 104 look alike (silver salute I think) that is wired to fit the 2547. I bought a used royce base 640 with d 104 from ebay. I really rather have the 104 on the galaxy and the SS on the royce for my wifes sign shop. She don't care if she sounds tinny on the SS.
I figured they might both be wired the same? But I guess not. What it amounts to is I'm gonna have to rewire both of them I suppose or leave well enough alone.

I imagine there is plenty of info to wire the 104 to the galaxy, but none to wire the SS to the Royce 640.

Sorry if I confused you, I still am also.

ok then , it looks like a tug-8 on the royce , open the bottom and see if it has the r-e switch on it , if it does ,you would just reverse wires 1 and 2 and put the switch to e for the Galaxy , Now , IM not to up on them there Salutes and there wirings ? but IM sure someone else can chime in on that for you. And like you said CD , get everything hooked up first and give them a try ,maybe you will be pleased with the way things are with both mic's as they are to each radio. That Royce looks very nice. Good luck to you.

The royce won't be here til next Fri or so. Guess I'll just wait until then and see what happens. Your right, I might lik'em the way they are. Everybody seems to think the new SS mike is tinny sounding though.
I sure thank ya foor your help sofar. 8)

even D-104s can have that tinty sound so to speak , a real good fix on that is to put a sock over the head , depending on the folds of the sock ,it will bass them up a bit. I kid you not. :)
