Maybe I posted my questions in the wrong part of the forum. I was wondering if anyone had a fix for the hum when the backlit is turned up to high? Also any ideas about changing the 1st if and 1st rf mixer to gasfet or mosfet transistors? Thank you. Does anyone own one and what are your thoughts?

I know Justin at F.G. does a mod where they change the front end to either a GaAsfet or a mosfet circuit, depending on what you want, but I'm pretty sure they're not going to post on a public forum how to do it. Of course, you could always send a radio over to him, and then reverse engineer it

Thanks Moleculo. I spoke to a tech at Galaxy today and he told me that several years ago Bill sent him a galaxy radio after he had done his gasfet mod. The radio was a little less noisy, more sensitive, but the adjacent channel rejection was actually reduced. Do other components need to be replaced as well?

I read on the Grant XL website(I think it is gone) that replacing some of the diodes to Shotkys would work and that maybe a Lou Franklin filter hooked up to power or not would work. Any thoughts on this or is everyone hiding their trade secrets?

Thanks.

May Bill Goode Rest in Peace.
