Carrier on side band not good. Have had my old 99V for a long time. With problems. Overall as an SSB radio it was great(by report) but the freq counter was dancing and so forth on AM after 20 years of ownership. As far as the drift problem very true. Before you do any more either you(or tech) heat and beat that thing(hot iron on solder joints with rapping the frame of the radio with a soft handled screw driver. If they say you are warbling on sideband do the diode replacement as per Galaxy's recommendation. If you make it stable after heat and beat full factory align. All of your variables/trimmers will be working. I think that the cost of radio work is so high now many folks discourage that. Save you from spending money on a lost cause radio. I have not found one of those.
