Hi all,
just one small question, is it possible to make some modification on dx959 and open it to work on 27.555MHz?

I found on cbtricks, (DX959 (P5 P6 Switch) Frequency Conversion).
Is this solution?

Thanks

thx Robb,

i really appreciate.

Cause, galaxy have one of the best cosmetic look, and after all, it is nice and quality radio.

I ve found couple on ebay, but I didn't know is there possibility to modify somehow triple 5 solution.

thx again for confirmation,
now I can, without any risk, buy it.

You might consider getting the clarifier unlocked too.
Galaxy radios also really benefit greatly from a complete alignment. They are 'crippled' from the factory (they do this to keep them within FCC guidelines) and respond well to a complete alignment.

Robb, bammbamm,
I suggest that also it is possible to unlock step to go 5khz, or it has already?

Sorry for damn easy questions, but I ve never had any of galaxy radios, so it is a new device for me.

The clarifier can be unlocked and then the freq 'slide' can be extended to 6KHz by using another mod. But then, the clarifier knob is very sensitive to the slightest movement. Some mod this radio with coarse/fine clarifier potentiometers. Doing it this way will give you some fine adjustment along with the ability to slide way over to get the even channels. Think you can buy the pots and knobs directly from Galaxy.

EDIT:
To get it to slide 5-6KHz (so that you can get the even channels such as 27.550, 560, and so on), it may be necessary to install a 'varactor' - or 'super diode'. Since you will not be able to do this mod, I would send the radio off to a shop once you've done the freq mod ('P5, P6') and let the shop install the super-diode and the fine/coarse clarifier pots and then have him align the radio. Hard to say what this will cost; but a shop like DTB Radio can probably do it . . .

Hm,, Now I m a little bit confused what to do.

I thougth that there is possibility to modify freq. counter for 5KHz step.
It wiill be not soo practic, every time to use potentiometer to see what is happen on 27.560, 570, 580 and so on.

Hm...

Nice board!
It won't do the 'even' frequencies, such as 27.550, .560, etc - tho. It will even make this radio a 10m radio too. It will still need to have the clarifier unlocked and expanded to get those even freq's.
