Here is a radio that had some fingers in it. The TalkBack mod on a hot-glued relay, diode swing mod, hot wired 12v to the finals (rwob) and these unknown alterations. Looking to remove any hacks. This is the 8 band model, made in Malaysia, year unknown. Until I find a clip to replace the missing one at the mirror board, a piece of wire is used to bring the finals back onto the am regulator. The scope view was horrendous.

There are 4 diodes here, what purpose do they serve?

There is a resistor and a cut trace here.

And lastly, a wire bridge from the am reg output trace near the res/diode mod. If anyone knows, please clue me in.

I have seen the 4 diodes on another rig in another post far far away, I think they're supposed to be there, maybe to accommodate the additional bands on these.

I agree with the previous post. I once owned the 99v and 88hl both of which had those diodes on the foil side of the board.

The others are in fact splatter mods.

I heard a guy while some skip was coming in saying "if you don't splatter, you don't matter".

The resistor, cut trace and wire bridge appears to be part of the TalkBack mod. The cut trace was an unused trace on the board, so the modder bridged the regulator output to that trace and attached a resistor, either as a TalkBack audio source or to energize the relay. I don't remember which wire went to the resistor from the relay but it doesn't matter. The tb mod was removed and the NPC/RC removed, and as long as the diodes belong there, it is stock again.

So I have a cobra 138xlr and the meter dose not work... It dose not key up and signal dose not work.... It is not stuck it the meter moves freely. now wires are resoldered on both ends...So now that do I look at. Could it be a diode or a transistor?
