GE tubes in D&A amps

GE tubes in D&A Equipment

I never run GE tubes in any of my D&A equipment was told that it requires a different tank cirquitry! I have the warrior, phantom and the maverick and I run sylvanias,Zeneths, westinghouse ect.

I've never heard that. Any tube of the same type (say a 6LQ6) will interchange regardless of the manufacturer. However, some brands of sweep tubes will perform better and last longer in service than others due to internal design factors. Plate design and layout is one area where this seems to be especially true. The plates in some brands of sweep tubes will handle the HF oscillations without a problem when used as an amplifier (Sylvania for one). While in others, the HF literally shakes the plate to death, resulting in power dropoff and eventual failure. But, any brand of a given type will work ... for a while.

Well im safe then as i ordered Sylvanias. I just ordered tubes from N9TEW and he was telling that the GEs will NOT WORK in any D&A amp...

Can't say that I've ever heard that but it could be true.

I run Sylvanias in my Phantom and have RCAs for spares.

There should be little difference in the tubes, in fact GE is the company that made the M-2057 to be used in RF amps, the only Horizontal Sweep tube that was built for that application.
Sweep tubes were designed and built for TV service and were readily interchangeable.
Back in the Dark ages, GE and Westinghouse made and distributed receiving and small transmitting tubes for the general consumer solely through RCA, and at the same time both companies maintained a line of industrial types under their own brand.
There would not be A RCA brand if it were not for GE.
6LF6, 6JS6C,6KD6,6LB6,6LQ6 and so on were never really designed to be "transmitting" tubes, they were pressed into service for SSB use by Hams back when they were cheap and found in every corner drug store.
They next started showing up in RF-Mono Band and Multi-Band amps that was targeted at the CB band market more than anything.
Anyone running amps with sweep tube today should baby them, run them at no more than 25 to 30 watts each in AM service and limit pep on SSB to about 50 to 60 watts.
Some different production runs were more robust than others, just like you can find the lot numbers of transistors that will show a higher gain if you sort through them.
