Thanks Guys,

This information is really helpful. Since I'm starting out with a Tech class license, it makes sense to start with the VHF/UHF FM satellites to begin with anyway. Also, I live in an appartment, so antennas for those frequencies are easier to deal with.

With all that in mind I got a VX-8DR today and if I can get to grips with the instruction book(!), I'll try listening out for satellites during passes this weekend.

It's great to have a forum like this.
