so I got my 4 element gizmotchy all put together and the only way I have to set the swr is a 10' mast strapped to the corner of my deck in the backyard,, I have the swr set where I want it with my analyzer, what are the odds it will still be ok when I get it up about 58' or so on my tower.

looking at another antenna instructions that is similar to the gizmotchy with a similar gamma match,, the (jogunn star) their manual says that the swr center point will go up about 20 channels when it is raised in the air?? this is the same antenna instructions that say the aluminum needs 3-4 weeks break in for max performance(lol)

also just for the heck of it, I ran a old junker rg58 coax from the gizmotchy to my radio and actually made good contact with some of the locals 30-40 miles away and they didn't even know I was talking on anything different and this is with the gizmotchy just a little off the ground,,, should really work when I get it on the tower!

if ya checked with anylizer make sure x=0 on channel u gonna use most. instead of tuning for lowest swr. your swr will go down as you raise it.go by the gizmotchy instructions only
tune both vert/and hortz. for x=0 or as close as possible.keep us posted

ok, got the gizmotchy on the tower,, tuning the swr that way worked out great, my 2.0 swr range is from 26.7mhz to 27.7mhz and 27.2mhz is 1.1 on the 259B.

I cheaped out on the rotor, NTE U-015 , it turns the beam just fine but the control box doesn't track it very well at all?? the dot on the rotor turns just a little faster than the antenna is turning. I did the resynch several times but it doesn't change

sounds good. do locals notice a difference

yes one says I went from a 7 to a 9 now at about 40 miles away and there is another guy with a small antenna about 30 miles away that I could just hardly make out on a quiet night he never registered on my meter and last night he gave me a solid 1 and we talked no problem for over an hour

just my thought,,,, i never go by one night test of how i recieve and transmit because of ground wave action,,, i go by at least a few days to a week trying out antenna because of weather and skip conditions ,,, after 35 years i learned because it worked fine one night the next might not.....
