I too received a book from a friend. An old radioman's guide from the 40's it looks like. It's neat the way the cover is embossed. Mine has yellowed pages, but contains a lot of old school material.
Not trying to hijack the thread, just add to it.

There is a lot of interesting things to learn from these older books. It doesn't seem like the younger generation has any interest in this any more, or for that matter in history itself. A lot of it doesn't play out any more, but this stuff is the basis, and basics of today's technology.
