Yep, my old Starduster has been up for a year now and is gettin' real good and seasoned in by now.
I typically can't tell if I'm on my Starduster or my Gain Master, and the old SD'r is about 7' feet lower at the tip. The SD'r is not much, but is still notably quieter when conditions are real good and quiet.
I should have done a switch to the GM to see if you could see any difference with its big 5/8 wave advantage, but maybe next time.
Homer your antenna was showing me a S7+ signal, so conditions were good for me too. If I had my pre-amp on you would have been hitting me with an S9+ signal.
I just got thru talking to WR #11, Robb, in California on his beam and he was coming this way great...especially toward the end of the contact. I think California was just starting to come this way and was in the Houston area for about 30 minutes, and then my big time DX just went away.
Robb that radio was sounding just fine to me. It didn't sound like a Kenwood etc, but it was perfectly readable and clear. I was working my Starduster with 60 watts.
