Nothing wrong with the Grant XL - whatsoever. Probably the best one of the whole bunch, as Uniden used better grades of parts. Same goes for the Grant LT too . . .
Many of those radios listed one that page have very little difference between them, except for the PLL's, the cases, and the switches and knobs. Any one of them is a fine radio. All 858 chassis are more or less the same. As for the 8719 chassis; some are dual conversion receivers and some are single conversion receivers. Other than that - pretty much the same radio. Don't think so? Look at the schematics and see for yourself.
The Grant XL and LT were still being mfd even after the Cobra 148 GTL NW/ST was on the market. Just stay away from the NW/ST until all the fixes are found out - such as the SSB warble problem - in particular . . .
