I was looking at The Uniden Grant radios and the different versions. I see a lot of them on ebay and Was wondering what is the one to buy or the best ones to buy and or what to stay away from. XL, Black radio, black on face with 4 buttons front mic side mic. Late model etc. thanks guys!

Nice website Thanks... Was looking at the newer style Uniden grant. I see they have a lighted model and an XL model I like the XL and no sound tracker. Not a big sound tracker fan.

I think they're all supposed to be good up to the xl. Same basic rules apply to the grant as they do the 148 gtl, side mic good, front mic not so good

Nothing wrong with the Grant XL - whatsoever. Probably the best one of the whole bunch, as Uniden used better grades of parts. Same goes for the Grant LT too . . .

Many of those radios listed one that page have very little difference between them, except for the PLL's, the cases, and the switches and knobs. Any one of them is a fine radio. All 858 chassis are more or less the same. As for the 8719 chassis; some are dual conversion receivers and some are single conversion receivers. Other than that - pretty much the same radio. Don't think so? Look at the schematics and see for yourself.

The Grant XL and LT were still being mfd even after the Cobra 148 GTL NW/ST was on the market. Just stay away from the NW/ST until all the fixes are found out - such as the SSB warble problem - in particular . . .

That's good to know that the grant LT's were good radios too(y) I've never heard anyone say one way or the other, and never would've given one second look.

I think the original grant export Is probably the most sought after and rare. They seem to bring the biggest money on ebay. 15minigrass did have
one for sale on the cb swap section. Looked to be in nice shape and at a very fair price imo.
