all of this has been on my drives to work in the morning on 14.238.50

Olathe, KS to south africa (long path) 07/03/13
Olathe, KS to (southern) Australia 07/05/13
Olathe, KS to Japan 07/05/13

all on 100 watts SSB and a Workman brand 8ft fiber glass 20m antenna (hamstick wanna be) that I bought used at the last hamfest for only $4

Nice job, I just got Lu8hh in Argentina from the mobile on 18.155. I am using 70 watts into a High Sierra SideKick Screwdriver. I have been listening around 14.238 and its been quite active.

I have worked a few JA's but ironically from the mobile and never from the home shack. I have not worked Australia yet, I did hear a station from Sidney the other day but he was very weak and I couldn't work him.

I have had good luck with Hamsticks, ran a 17 meter one before I installed the screw driver. I used it on other bands via a LDG autotuner. I have along with the 17 meter one a 10 meter and 40 meter. The 40 meter one is useless but I got that one for free.

Yesterday, 07/08/2013, I worked a station in Nicaragua in he mobile... not a bad way to start the morning... then I went into work and well... it was not so good anymore

Good contacts. I don't doubt them BTW but I have to ask you this simply because everyone asked me the same question when I worked 3B9C on Rodrigues Island via longpath from the mobile. How do you know it was longpath? What indicators were present? Spinning a beam around makes it easy to distinguish longpath but you can't do that while mobile.

simple, the other station was doing all the work and running a beam... lol he was pointed long path into the USA, I just got LUCKY... according to the other station he can not make short path (normally) during that time of day (around 7:00 am Central time

BINGO!! Just the answer I was looking for. I was testing you. LOL In my case 3B9C was calling "CQ to the Pacific and North America via longpath". Also I was hearing Australia at the same time and some Europeans but NOTHING at all from Africa or the Indian Ocean area at 8:30am ADT. :thumbup1:
