ground plane input plz..

Hey again all..

another, hopefully NOT moronic question
i presently have a "backrack" on my pickup and would like to run an antenna off of it, not magnet mount...unsure if the box would give me the best groundplane for it or even if it would transfer the groundplane to the frame of the truck due to the install procedures for said backrack...BUT there are side rails available that connect directly to the backrack which would ensure a good contact of metal to metal across three sides...would this be worth investigating?

give it a try , you can always run wires from it to the vehicles frame/body if it needs it .
