Hello Friends,

I have a query regarding grounding. It is required to ground the rig and tuner. Can i make it common?

Thanks,
VU3PYG

I do. All my equipment is grounded. Run all your ground wires to a ground bus, then one large gauge cable to your ground rod.

I think we may be running into a little language/terminology misunderstanding here. If by 'common' you mean the 'third' wire electrical ground in house wiring, that isn't such a good idea. It may introduce unwanted radiation/interference into the electrical wiring. It also presents some safety risks.
If 'common' means 'earthing', or 'grounding' to a common ground system, such as telephone services use, then yes, it can be beneficial, such as for lightning safety. It depends to a great extent on what type of antenna you may be using. If it's a 'balanced' antenna, no RF ground is typically necessary. If it's an 'unbalanced' antenna such as a random length wire, then a very good RF ground system is definitely a necessity.
All of this is probably unnecessary, but i have no idea how electrical things are termed in India. Hope I didn't make it unnecessarily complicated, or confusing.

Thank you for the replies.

The earthing i am about to use is a one which is specially made for only hamradio purposes and not for any other device. In this regard by mentioning common i meant whether i can use the same earth for both rig and antenna tuner together, like tying both of them together. Is this fine?

Yes, you should have only one common ground for all your radio equipment. You should use a separate ground wire from each piece of gear to the common ground point. Do NOT connect each piece together and then run just one wire to the ground point.
