I think we may be running into a little language/terminology misunderstanding here. If by 'common' you mean the 'third' wire electrical ground in house wiring, that isn't such a good idea. It may introduce unwanted radiation/interference into the electrical wiring. It also presents some safety risks.
If 'common' means 'earthing', or 'grounding' to a common ground system, such as telephone services use, then yes, it can be beneficial, such as for lightning safety. It depends to a great extent on what type of antenna you may be using. If it's a 'balanced' antenna, no RF ground is typically necessary. If it's an 'unbalanced' antenna such as a random length wire, then a very good RF ground system is definitely a necessity.
All of this is probably unnecessary, but i have no idea how electrical things are termed in India. Hope I didn't make it unnecessarily complicated, or confusing.
