A friend and I were trying to bust a pile up to work King Hussein a few years before he died. My friend got thru, but I didn't. His QSO card he received is awesome.

I have many thousands of QSO's, but none with any notoriety.

Anybody have a QSO with someone interesting?

I've worked authors, John Devoldere, ON4UN & Ward Silver, N0AX as well as key/ paddle maker Piero Begali, I2RTF. Take care es...

Ditto for me and john ON4UN. Tried to break a massive pileup one night when a couple members of the present Jordanian royal family were on the air but it was nuts. It was the present king as well as Queen Noor on at the time. Crazy, just crazy on the air.

in 1987 I was in Zaire and had dinner with Tom Gregory. Afterward he invited me to operate his station, 9Q5NW. I was rare DX and on the other end of a massive pileup for a change!! What a thrill and got a eyeball qso card from Tom.

N4NW

i worked a few of them on the Eham forum , or at least they seemed to get a bit excited :LOL::LOL:

lol.

The most i worked was Ireland....Still getting the hang of proper QSO on hf...

Since i don't run amplifiers, i just stand by and listen:closedeyes:
Tho, it would have been just wonderful to speak with Maleek Hussein in Jordanian on the radio!

lol.

I don't run an amp either and currently have just a modest ladderline fed dipole and work the world.

Let me rephrase that. I used to have a modest ladderline fed dipole but took it down yesterday. I now have NOTHING up in the air but that's a good thing actually. it means that I am preparing to do more work on the Great Antenna System Rebuild of 2011/2012. (y)

I did on 10m. It was a pair of phased 1/4 wave verticals IN MY APARTMENT. The ceilings were 9 feet high and the room dimensions were such that I could space them 1/4 wave apart with one in each corner. My operating desk was in the middle of them. I hope there was an RF null there. I worked all over Europe, the USA, the Caribbean, and even west Africa and the Middle East but just not into the pacific. Power was 100 watts and as said with indoor antennas. My point is not to prejudge any antenna. It will often surprise you. All you have to do is try.

BTW I also had a two element wire beam in the attic, one for 15m and another for 20m.

I've worked ON4UN too.
AS well as the Pitcairn island DX group - as Beetle did (just recently in fact).
I did have a QSO with a skydiver using the local 2m repeater. He was talking to me from 15k feet up and 90 miles away!
He wasn't famous; but I would call that unusual . . .

Barefoot i have over 10 thousand QSO's from every single corner of the globe, with a tribander up 35 feet, and a couple wires for the lower bands.

ON4UN

I've never worked John ON4UN but have met him in person, does that count? Back when the GE 2-way division was still alive and here in Lynchburg he came to do a presentation. Besides being a really great program it was awesome meeting and talking with him, not something I'll forget for a long time
