Hawaii on 60m !

I made contact with KH6MB in Waimanalo, HI on 60m tonight ! I was sitting here at the computer and all the sudden he started calling faintly . I tried to get back but he couldn't quite get my call . Then others jumped in. After a bit I noticed he was still calling and I gave another shout and got him ! This is neat as this is a new band to me and only 50w .

60 can be a fun band , acts like 20 sometimes , then acts like 80 others

what antenna setup are you running ????

I have a homebrew Windom-

Windom off center fed

I really felt fortunate as with all the people calling him I only heard one other person that made contact with him. He was having a hard time hearing those calling .

Hi Ron. Thanks for the contact on 60M. For QSL please send to my QSL manager ,AI4U, with SASE. I am using an IC 756ProII into a full size 1/2 wave vertical next to the saltwater. This was my first time on the 60M band.

Correct. I found this on arrl for 60m:

If you use a half-wave dipole--about 87 feet 3 inches for the "middle" channel
