Does anyone know what's involved in doing the conversion or better yet someone i can ship to have it done? I read its almost the same thing as the SB 220 model. I might have a shot at picking one up for a reasonably price. And yes it's for 11 meters but in a nice guy on the free bands. I can do basics soldering but not sure about this.

if it is like the sb 1000 simple as cutting a wire.
the SB 220 has 10 meters in it The SB 221 does not have ten meters

Remove trap. For starters.

Then you need to add 2 contacts to make the 4 position wafer a 5 to add 10m position. Notch the stop tab to turn one more click. Add a silver strap to add 10m tank coil like sb220. Im in process now. U have both a hl2200 and sb220( that im recapping ) im posting for legacy reasons. So since theres like a big secret here on how to do this bs. Once you add 10m itll work just fine on 11m.
Im going to try to add the contacts or get a new wafer switch.
Theres also some wiring differences. But till i get everything i wont copy the sb220 design completely. I want to test 15m without the trap coil and see what happens

here's the schematic heathkit hid in the sb221. But clearly there's 3 coils in the 15m section to block anything above 24mhz
You can remove them all . One is a 20m coil, one is 10m, one is a trap.
The trap coil can be shortened to match the extra 10m coil we will need if we add 10m band switch. You can also just put in the place of the extra 20m coil, the 10 and change the capacitors. This will give you 15, 11m and some 10m the input will be off. Adjustments will be needed. Or run a tuner between radio and amp input.

the sb220 uses 2 coils marked 10. Theres one in the 15m tank .you can make the second. Also keep in mind sb220 and sb221 hl2200 arent wired the same on bandswitch. Its backwards.

Next we need to remove extra 20m coil thats in the 15m spot and put the 10m coil there, then the new homemade 10 coil just to the right in the original 10m spot. You will need to add the appropriate caps. Read sb220 schematic for values.

Next you need to add the tap for the 10m tank pi network on output side. There's already a spot on the wafer switch. Or if you dont care about 15m. Remove 15m tap and replace it with 10m tap. Since i dont have the front wafer switch yet im decided to give up 15m.
Also i completely did a bypass on 15m tuned input. So i have to run a radio with built in tuner as theres no tuned input on 15m now lol. I got 800 watts out on 28.000 today

Painted the inside to cut back the reflected radiation. This is documented many places. The radiation reflects off shinny aluminum heating tubes up.
