Hello guys. My name is Nathan, KJ4LRZ. I reside in Russellville KY and I am new the Amateur Radio hobby. I currently do not own any equipment but I plan on purchasing a Yaesu FT-8900R with a Larsen 2 meter antenna using a Diamond K515 mount.

I have but one question however...

Our emergency operators run on the 453.*** frequency and I only see 2 meter/70CM antennas that operate only up to 450. Does this mean that they will receive the 453 frequency? And if not, I wonder if Larsen makes an NMO antenna to support a 453 frequency.

The 440 antennas will TX & RX 453 just fine. Most vertical 440 antennas are broadbanded enough that you'll be able to transmit much higher than 453 if you want.

Trigger welcome to the boards !! Larsen makes a very good antenna for mobil use ,and they are very broad banded.I am currently using a Larsen nmo 150 for 2 meter use. That antenna can tune between 130 mhz+/- to 175 mhz+/- for transmit use.And it recieves very well down into the aircraft band....So I am willing to bet that you wont have any trouble recieving what you are after with the antenna you are looking at

That's good to hear guys, for a moment I figured I would be running four different antennas on one vehicle :p

Okay so if I have the NMO2/70B, which antenna(s) do you all recommend for the 6 and 10 meter bands and do I use a diplexer to connect them to my FT-8900R?
